Class summary for November 11th

Hi everyone!
Last Monday we worked on a  document called WRITING-GIVING ADVICE- that was the topic.
First of all, we started the class talking to one another about Madrid: "what do you think about it? What would you recommend seeing there?, etc. The aim was to learn expressions about giving advice and recommendations. Some examples:
-          If you've never been here before, you should visit the city center
-          If you're into art or history, you should visit the Prado Museum.
-          If you like shopping, you better go to Fuencarral Street.
-          If you want to escape the tourist area, you're best staying -on +in the outskirts.
Other useful sentences:
-          You could take a tour round the mountains
-          You're better off taking the train- ==te sale mejor coger el tren
Besides, there was an e-mail in the photocopy written by a girl who gives some advice about her city, London. This e-mail was written without paragraphs, one sentence after the other. We had to separate +[it into] six different paragraphs with a slash. we also talked about it.
Finally, on the other side of the paper there was some vocabulary on how to describe a place:
-          Tourist trap
-          A rough area- zona chunga
-          A posh area- zona pija
-          A lively area- animada
-          The suburbs- residencial
-          A high-rise building- rascacielos
-          A street market
-          An up-and-coming area- que se esta poniendo de moda, en auge.
HOMEWORK!!
In that page, -the exercice A: it is about KEY WORDS FOR WRITING, Otherwise (por que si no, de otra forma), Other than (además), apart from (además de, al margen de). In the exercise we have to decide if one or both options are correct.
Vocabulary/expressions of the day:
-          Sunset/sunrise
-          A sight point/an outlook point
-          The skyline
-          The neighborhood
-          To stroll= to walk in a slow, relaxed way
-          Something clear-cut- algo evidente
See you in class!
