Hi classmates,

Last Tuesday, the class started with a group game -of +for three or four students. The game consisted -of +in one of us -read +reading [1] some sentences or questions and others -try +trying to find the right answer.

Then, the teacher explained how to receive notices through the EOI Vallecas website. You can find it in the EOI Vallecas website and you only need to introduce your email address. It only takes two minutes.

After that, we continued with the students' book on page 14, exercises 1,2,3,4 and 5. In these exercises we learnt some expressions and vocabulary which we can use when someone tells us their problems.

Some of these sentences are:

·         To turn to:  acudir a alguien.
o   To resort to: recurrir a alguien o algo.

"She had no one to turn to"

·         Pour your heart out: Abrir tu corazón or contar las penas.

"I poured my heart out to him and then he told all his friends what I'd said"

·         Shrink (as a noun): loquero (informal).
o   To shrink: encoger.

"I was so depressed that I ended up going to see a shrink"

·         Lend an ear: escuchar a alguien compresivamente.

"Claire's always one to lend a sympathetic ear if you have problems"

·         To bind/ bound/ bound: atar.
o   Spellbound: completamente hechizado.
o   Binding: vinculante / binding agreement = acuerdo vinculante.

·         Well enough: bastante bien.

"I could rewrite it, but I decided to leave well enough alone" [????]

·         Short of = except for: excepto que.
·         To spill: Derramar.
·         Unkind: desagradable.
·         In tears: En lagrimas, llorando.
·         Row /rəʊ/: remar, remo.
·         A row /raʊ/: bronca o discusión.
·         Laughing at: riéndose de.
·         Laughing with: riéndose con.

We can find more expressions in our discussion group +[ , ] in the class notes post.

Finally, we -didn´t +don't have any homework for -the next day.
See you on Thursday.
