Hi classmates!

We started yesterday +by correcting  -the exercise B of GRAMMAR in the worksheet of letters of complaint and we learnt that some verbs go always with as like the verb regard, for example: His mother regards him as a genius (su madre le considera un genio).

Later we did -the exercice A of PRACTICE of the same worksheet and we read the text "Gifts mapped out". We learnt some vocabulary related to this text:

Jigsaw  /ˈdʒɪɡ.sɔː/ : (tool) sierra de calar // (piture game) puzzle
Puzzle (verb): sorprender, desconcertar. The findings of the survey puzzle me - they're not at all what I would have expected
Puzzle over (phrasal verb): to try to solve a problem or understand a situation by thinking carefully about it (encajar). Scientists are puzzling over the results of the research on the drug
Puzzle /ˈpʌz.l̩/: (noun) a situation that is difficult to understand (enigma). Scientists have been trying to solve this puzzle for years.
A jigsaw puzzle: puzzle, rompecabezas
A crossword puzzle: crucigrama
A typo /ˈtaɪ.pəʊ/: a small mistake in a text made when it was typed or printed (error de escritura)
Bump /bʌmp/: (verb) abollar
A credit card or a debit card NO a debt card! Debt /det/: deuda. A debt card sería una tarjeta de deudas.
To assemble /əˈsem.bl̩/ = to put together (montar, ensamblar)
The other way round: al revés

When we finished this exercise, the teacher asked us to do a written assignment at home. We can choose one of these options:
  •         Option A: A recommendation email
  •         Option B: A complaint letter
We have to write a composition of 120-180 words and we have to send it by email to Mr. Moises (jlmoises.skyline@gmail.com) before the 2nd of December, this date is the deadline ("línea de la muerte", fecha tope). The teacher also gave us a handout with some rules and advices [es incontable!]  that we should take into account when we write our compositions.

To continue with the class we did the grammar box exercises of page 17 on the student's book and -the exercise 1a of PRACTICE of the same page and we learnt how we can form different adjectives with prefixes and suffixes:

PREFIXES: Dissatisfied, impatient, insecure, uncomfortable, unsociable, self-aware, bad-tempered, badly-paid (mal pagado), better-informed, well-balanced, self-confident, self-center, good-looking, good-mannered, well-spoken. Well-done also can be an adjective: A well-done steak.

SUFFIXES: enthusiastic, lonely, panicky, sleepy, grumpy, stressed, happy (-iest), frustrated, curious, easy (to -eas +ease: facilitar), blury (borroso).

Some nouns can also be formed with suffixes like for example: handful (puñado), spoonful (cucharada), mouthful (boca llena).

Some vocabulary we learnt:
Words of wisdom: consejos
-Determinated +determined = resolved (decidido)
In -disguised +disguise = in costume (disfrazado) She usually goes out in disguise to avoid being bothered by the public.
Lovely (bonito, precioso) - lovable (adorable) (they are different)
He's optimistic/pessimistic: es un pesimista
He's an optimist/ a pessimist: es pesimista

I want you to remember  [buena estructura, aunque has dicho "quiero que os acordáis" y a lo mejor querías decir "quiero recordaros" = "I want to remind you about..."] one of the phrases we learnt that I like so much: Life is a fascinating journey. But sometimes the journey is more exciting than the destination.

See you next Tuesday!
