The last -class lesson we started correcting different homework exercise of stories. With them, we learnt vocabulary and expressions about natural disasters. For example:
Vocabulary:
Terrifying - aterrado
Collapsed -colapsado
Trapped beneath –atrapado debajo
Ruined - arruinado
Went up in flames – estallar en llamas
Triggered - desencadenar (Bad)
Earthquare - terremoto
Waves -olas
Flee – huir
and expressions:
By the time – futuro - its not the same than at the moment
We finally made it to Bali - por fin fuimos a Bali
looking forward to doing – esperar algo
getting caught up in – estar metido en
After that, we practiced whit like // unlike; the difference between like and as; how to use Like + noun >> He speaks like a native speaker; As + clause >> Nobody sings as she does. Example:
He speaks like a native speaker
Nobody sings as she does
Actually, It´s easier to heard +an expression whit ' like + clause' because it is used more and more.
' like there was no tomorrow.'
British people are very "poetic" by making comparisons, for example in this case
The rain poured down for days, like an endless waterfall from the skies
At the end of the lesson we talked about crimes and we -discuss +discussED different types of crimes.
jay walking – caminar por donde no se debe - Yes!!! It is a crime
arson - piromano ->arsonist
smuggling -contrabando
assault – asalto (in the street)
libel - difamación
a hold up –a mano armada
jobbery – corrupción (politician)
pickpocket – carterista
