Hi Classmates!!

 -[I belated apology of] +[My apologies for a belated] summary +of last Thursday. When I write some vocabulary word which -[have it] +[has a]  phonetic sound -[. Y] +[, y]ou can listen +[TO it in your] -into computer If you -[tick in] +[click on] the phonetic sound. Because It´s a link. 


We began the class with some texts that -[Tuesday 26th] we read -it +[on Thursday 26th] but  we  underlined only some words in text about "Happiness : Facts and Myths" pages 18, 19 and 127 +in our book: 
  • Page 18: 
First paragraph: How much does happiness cost?

  1. You are in for a surprise: Apuntarse a una sorpresa.  To be in for Sth: apuntarse a algo. [Aquí era más en este sentido:

Second paragraph: Happiness and the city
  1. Overcrowding /-ˈkraʊ.dɪŋ/ : Masificación. 
  2. Collect data on : reunir datos sobre algo, recopilar. 
  3. Reduce your well-being by between one and five points. Reduce it by... %.
  • Page 19: 
First paragraph: Give a litle
  1. Contentment /kənˈtentmənt/ : Dar algo por bueno, suficientemente satisfecho.
  2. By giving more than we take. In this sentence BY + Verb-ing. Introduce a mood complement.
Second paragraph: Hold a pencil between your teeth
  1. Give  it a go: Probar, intentar ( Try)

First paragraph: Talk to strangers
  1. Opens up: abrir.   Open sth up: To improve a situation by making it less limited
Second paragrah: A wandering mind is not a happy mind. A wandering mind: dar vueltas algo en la cabeza. 

Diference between wander & wonder: 
Wander: /ˈwɒn.dər/  dar vueltas
Wonder: /ˈwʌn.dər/ maravillarse, sorprenderse. 

Others words of vocabulary in this exercice: 
Wanderlust/ˈwɒn.də.lʌst/ : Trotamundos  (ganas de ver mundo)
Lust  /lʌst/: ganas 
Get itchy feet: Culo inquieto. e.g: After three wears in the job she began to get itchy feet.
To be fair /feər/  : Para ser justo u honesto.
But +it does go to show that.....: Si que sirve para demostrar....
Collector/kəˈlek.tər/ Coleccionista.
Belated: /bɪˈleɪ.tɪd/Retraso [retrasado (adj)]
Belated apology: disculpas con retraso.

Then we did -the exercise number 1 on -the page 20 in pairs. In this exercise there are several sentences that we debated +on which -it -makes +make you feel good and bad in your life.  Exercise number 2a in pairs too. After that, we had to explain something that -feel +FEELS good or bad +to the rest of class. We did -the exercise number 3 -[between all] +altogether. 

Vocabulary in these exercices
Cristicism:   /ˈkrɪt.ɪ.sɪ.zəm/ Crítica
Employer:  /ɪmˈplɔɪ.ər/: Empresario
Employee:  /ɪmˈplɔɪ.iː/   Empleado
Lack of Sth:   /læk/ Falta de 
Exam: /ɪɡˈzæm/ Examen
To soar/sɔːr/  Dispararse (hacia arriba)
Council tax ( noun): Contribución. 
Maybe pay off: puede que merezca la pena.
Dull: /dʌl/ aburrimiento.
Having casual relationships: relaciones con libertad

Then, we praticed listening with exercice 3a, b and 4a.
