Funnily enough, there was a time when I was quite good at using them, but I seem to have forgotten about it lately... I always make a mess with them nowadays!

The bit about  chopsticks-etiquette is most convenient though!

About Brussels

From: Carmen Tejero

Hi Elisabeth,
How are you? I've talked to your mother this morning and she told me you have found a fantastic work as a Portuguese interpreter in  the European Comission in Brussels. Congratulations! You have achieved your dream by you effort and you are really lucky to work there.
My sister has lived in the city centre of Brussels for  one year. Shall you have her phone number? She would tell you how to find a house, where to buy anything or what you need to. I have just talked to my sister on the phone and she wants to help you. If you have any doubts you can contact my sister to solve your problems.
Are you still living in the hotel?. Are your workmates nice?. Are people afraid of terrorists attacks?. Have you tasted the mussels?
I'm arriving in Brussels next month to visit my sister and you. Besides, I'm going to visit Bruges and Ghent.
I'm looking forward to seeing you soon.
Kisses.

Did I tell you? I will probably move to London.
You won't believe this, but I did a job interview past Monday and If they have call me to offer the job, we will live in the same city. What an amazing coincidence! Don't you think so?

I know you have just moved to London so I would like you tell me about London

What is the weather like in London? Everyone says that it's horrible! A lot of people have warned me about this!

How much is the lease for your flat? I think that London is more expensive than other cities, so I'm afraid that I will pay more money for the lease than Spain

What about the public transport? How long does it take you to get to work?
What kind of  social and cultural activities does the city offer? It's very important and you know how much it means for me!
I can't wait to discover the whole city and its surroundings!

I hope you reply my questions and why don't you attach me some photos of the city?

A lot of kisses.

Dear Phil and Julie.

How are you?. I saw Paul last weekend and he told me that you've just moved to Australia. I'm happy about that. As you know, I'm very interested in that country and I've a lot of question, such as, could you find easily a flat to rent?. Everyone says that Australia is very expensive. Are there many people of different nationalities?. How is the weather like in Australia at the moment?. Anyway, it's a great place to live.
I've never been to Australia and, at the same time, I'd like to visit you, however, I can't afford it, but, if I stay in your house it'll be cheaper. Could that be possible?. Besides, if we were together we could spend a great week.

I'm looking forward to hearing soon from you.

A reflection on Education

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzkvEorXwtg&index=2&list=PLEDXclThcq5O5_HhWQfzQqboh1W11_dK

A professor exposes to an audience a reflection from the shadow of the education. He says that there are persons who are just now wondering to themselves if what they are doing is related to see with his life and change his life. Moreover the contents and theories that do not have the magic of the education and learning do not mean anything. Where is secret? In the skills and the pedagogy to captivate a student and that the classes receive life, to be able to revive the imagination and change the education. In my opinion all the people can produce magic if each person believes in themselves and what they want to achieve and to change. In conclusion it is our responsibility of continuing disillusioned or being better with ourselves and the others.

The Alchemist's Letter

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Ines Serrania
Date: Wed, Feb 17, 2016 at 12:44 AM

Hello mates!

As a child I love the tales. Even now, reading, watching, listening or telling stories is one of the things what I like most. I think that the more mataphoric the incidents are, the more interesting the story. Because of this, I have chosen this video.

It's a short film. It tells the story about the ambition of a man, and how the quest for his success as an alchemist destroyed his family. But at the end of his days, the man lernt what things were really important in life. So, he wrote a letter to his son and gave him a very special gift to teach him it. Thanks to that, the son, who already was adult, lived happy with his daughter.

I hope you enjoy the video as much as I!

See you in class.

All that glisters is not gold, Shakespeare Speaks

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Alejandro Barredo Carbajo
Date: Tue, Feb 16, 2016 at 2:36 PM

Hi guys!

I've chosen this video that I would like to share with you.

The video show a William Shakespeare's daughter, who has bought a ring, gets a shock when her finger turns green - and William takes the opportunity to teach her a valuable life lesson. The story he told to her is about a Prince who want to married with a Princes, but first, she must choose between three boxes.

In my opinion, is a valuable history and it has a really interesting message, warns us about appearance and you not to be fooled by people or other things that look good, because they might not be as good as they look. There are many situations like this might happen in your life, say, when you go to buy and you see bargains or when you know new people. You need to be careful and not rush with your opinion or by choosing.

This is a history what we should never forget!

I hope you lke it and enjoy!

From: maite.risueno.losada

Hi guys, I would like to ask you a question "What does virgin mean?" I have doubt it and I want you to watch this video to understand what it mean.

                                         https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gd3oYFS9g9I

Sometimes children ask us some very delicate questions  and sometimes we think that they do that when they are really asking innocent questions.

I think this video can be an advertisement. I have enjoyed it because it´s surprising and the punchline unexpected.

I like advertisements on TV; each one can be a little film to attract everybody's attention and to manage that everybody buys the product. I like analyzing them to understand which strategies they use to achieve it. In this video, humor, surprise and sex are what the ideas man uses.

In the end I don´t know what is the brand of the product advertised. Is it  an extra virgin olive oil? I don´t know but it doesn´t matter! I like it anyway!

Teapot power

Hi classmates!

I've chosen a short video that I would like to share with you.
It's about a strange building. I'm sure that you have seen or known about some of them. They are amazing!
I really enjoy seeing this kind of architecture.
The video shows a quirky building in the shape of cup of tea. When I first saw it, I was fascinated. I couldn't imagine it had ten storey offices inside.
We can find it in a China city called Wuxi and it's the symbol of the city.
It can be compared with the White Towers or the Kio Towers in Madrid.
It's such a curious building that everyone wants to take it a photo.
If you are interested in these constructions, there are different ways of knowing them. You can have a look online or also by travelling. I prefer the second one.

See you soon!

Why?

---------- Forwarded message ---------
From: R Palomo
Hi guys

Some times, when I watch a video, I'm shocked and this is one of them. For me have been difficult to pick out one because, very often, TV provides us videos about people who suffer and unfortunately we're used to watching them.
You've just seen two people. A frightened man who is running away. He's carrying a child in his arms. He only has a dream, to live in peace. Suddenly a journalist kicks him and he falls over, but, what happen after?. I needed to imagine what happened after that so let me tell you the rest of the history. Surely the man's son asked his father "Why?" And he couldn't answer anything. He only looked away and cried, however, when the journalist's son asked his mother "Why?" she, proud, answered "Because I am superior than these people".

Stranded whales

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: carmen.tejero.donaire
Date: Thu, Feb 11, 2016 at 11:59 AM

Hi, dear classmates!
I have chosen a video about stranded whales in New Zealand. Whales are the biggest mammals in the world and the pilot whale is the most common species of whale in New Zealand.
The video shows us how some people helped whales to return back to the sea and how this people worked tirelessly although they weren't able to save all the whales.
When the whales were stranded on the sand, the volunteers kept the skin of the whales wet by throwing water buckets on them. After that, the volunteers dragged the whales towards sea and they tried to refloat them. Some of the whales came back to the deep sea.
In the end, 46 whales were saved but, unfortunately, despite the efforts 24 pilot whales died on the beach.

Hi classmates!

I´m writing this email because I want to talk about -my +this -funny +fun video.

First of all, I want to ask you this question, -Have +have you ever thought -about +if the way you eat is normal? I´m sure of it....

For that +reason, in the next video you can check +if the way you eat is normal.

In this video -[anyone talk] +[nobody talks], for this reason you should pay attention -in +to the cartoons and the sentences. They show you what percentage of people eat different -kind +kinds of meal in diferent ways.

-In +at the beginning the video asks you if your eating habits are normal, say, if you prefer eating your cereales soggy, crunchy or +you don´t care, either way...

I´m surprised because there are more -of +than five ways to make a -coffe +coffee! -whit +with milk, black, half & half or cream, +with almond or soy milk... -[For other side] +Besides, -also there are +also many ways of preparing a sandwich, eating an oreo, bagels or spaghetti. But in my opinion, no matter +the percentage, I prefer to eat spaghetti in the Lady & the trump style.

I'm looking forward to -see +SEEING it in class and I hope you like it.

Cheers
